About
Sturmey-Archer has been a name synonymous with innovation in cycling technology since the early 20th century. The story began when Frank Bowden acquired a bicycle company originally based in Raleigh Street, Nottingham, England. Working with patents from Henry Sturmey and James Archer, his engineers developed the first Sturmey-Archer 3-speed gear hub in 1902 — a milestone that changed cycling forever.
